After bringing in over 150 runners in its debut last year, the Tower to Town race is returning for its second year on Sunday, October 6.

The 10-mile rain or shine race, hosted by the Lebanon Valley Conservancy and Community Health Council of Lebanon County, will begin at 9:30am at the Clarence Schock Memorial Park Nature Center and finish at Optimist Park.

Runners have the option of running solo for $40 or as a two-person relay for $30 each if they register by Sept. 20. Relay racers will trade off at Cornwall’s Root Beer Barrel landmark about five miles into the race.

“It’s a fun run! We had a great response from surrounding communities last year and hope to have even more runners this year,” said race director and executive director of the Community Health Council of Lebanon County Nicole Maurer in a press release. “The race is perfect for training for a half-marathon or full marathon, but it’s also a great fit for beginners or casual runners because of the option to run as a two-person relay.”

Awards will go to the relay team that finishes first, as well as the 1st solo male and female racers. The top three relay teams will receive recognition, along with the top three male and female racers in each age group.

However, all racers will receive a commemorative seedling for their participation.

After crossing the finish line, runners can relax and enjoy themselves at the race’s after party.

“We’ll have swag bags for racers after they cross the finish line,” said executive director of The Lebanon Valley Conservancy Laurie Crawford in the release. “We have a great after party planned with music, pizza, fresh apple cider and more.”

Proceeds from the race will go toward the construction of the John E. Wengert Memorial Park, which LebTown detailed the plans for earlier this year.
