The Lebanon VA Medical Center has begun using a nationally available app to provide real-time health care online.

Veterans interested in this service can ask their VA health care provider if their situation or follow-up appointments can be accomplished using the telehealth service.

A native app is available for iOS users, and everyone else can use a webapp that will work on most modern browsers/devices.

“VA Video Connect is an exciting addition to the many options we provide our Veterans for convenient care. VVC leverages technology – that many Veterans have in their hands – to connect them with their VA health care providers,” said Dr. Stuart A. Roop, Lebanon VAMC’s chief of staff, in a release.

“Lebanon VA continues to explore and embrace options to make access to care as convenient as possible to South Central Pennsylvania’s Veterans while leveraging telehealth technologies to enhance the accessibility, capacity and quality of VA health care.”

Personal assistance on the technology is available at the VA, and there is also a national help desk hotline that you can call Monday through Saturday from 7am to 11pm (that number is 866-651-3180).

The VA is currently delivering more than 1 million video telehealth visits per year, with FY18 having nearly 20% more visits than the previous year. Most of these video encounters occur with veterans in rural areas. About a tenth of last year’s visits were delivered using the new VA Video Connect interface.

The Lebanon VA serves a nine-county area by providing medical care to the country’s veterans living nearby. The Lebanon VA also oversees community clinics in Lancaster, Mechanicsburg, Pottsville, Wyommissing, York, and Fort Indiantown Gap.
