Email from Williams to local businesses: We want to see you paid

Williams Companies has contacted its list of local business people to reassure subcontractors that it wants to see them paid.

The email follows reports from LebTown, Lancaster Newspapers, and others regarding the millions of dollars owed to Central PA businesses by former Williams contractor, Welded Construction, which went belly up following an unpaid $23 million invoice by Williams.

The message advises Atlantic Sunrise subcontractors who haven’t been paid that they need to get in touch with Federal Insurance Company, which is the surety for an approximately $450 million bond required by Welded of Williams.

Lebanon companies who need help with this process are told to contact Williams at atlanticsunrise@williams.com.

Subject: Atlantic Sunrise – Compensating Local Businesses

You may have seen recent media coverage highlighting some of the local businesses still owed compensation by Welded Construction L.P. for work completed in support of Williams’ Atlantic Sunrise pipeline project. I’d like to follow up with you to provide additional information, including guidance for claim reconciliation.

It is important to us that all contractors who performed work on the Atlantic Sunrise project are treated fairly and promptly compensated for their work. Please be assured that Williams did provide adequate advance payment to Welded so that timely subcontractor compensation could be made. The fact that there are some laborers and service providers still owed compensation is troubling and something we would like to see promptly addressed.

Prior to the project’s commencement, in order to help protect Atlantic Sunrise subcontractors and suppliers, Williams required Welded Construction to secure a bond valued at approximately $450 million. The bond surety, Federal Insurance Company, reports that some subcontractors have already reconciled their claims for payment. However, claims can’t be processed unless subcontractors make direct contact with the surety and follows the proper claims process.
