You’ve still got a week to visit the Pennsylvania Farm Show, legendary destination for some of the state’s best eats.

Governor Tom Wolf toured the grounds yesterday and stopped by the Bell & Evans area to visit with the Fredericksburg-based chicken company that was founded in the late 1890’s.

Wolf tasted the company’s new item this year, a sandwich made using their gluten-free breaded chicken breast. “This is really good,” said Wolf to Bell & Evans President Scott Scott Sechler.

The Bell & Evans items are offered as part of a larger PennAg Industries display. In an interview with Lancaster Online, PennAg executive vice president Chris Herr said, “This is the first time a fully organic product is going to be part of the Farm Show food court offerings.”

Other chicken items available for purchase include: Roasted chicken dinner, chicken cheesesteak, fried bucket of chicken, roasted chicken sandwich, chicken parm sandwich, chicken tenders, and chicken wings.

The Sechler family prides itself on delivering chicken raised without antibiotics and in stress-free and clean environments. Check out this video for a sense of their hatchery operation:

Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding also stopped by the booth last week, as seen in this photo posted to the Bell & Evans Facebook page.

The Farm Show runs through Saturday, January 12. Admission is free and parking is $15.

Are there other Lebanon County connections to the Farm Show? We’d love to hear about them in the comments.
