As part of fall convocation activities, Lebanon Valley College just celebrated the official opening of its new Jeanne and Edward H. Arnold Health Professions Pavilion.
This year marks Lebanon Valley College’s 152ⁿᵈ class of students beginning studies on campus of the small private liberal arts college in Annville, PA, about 20 miles from Harrisburg and 5 miles from Lebanon.
The building was designed Stantec and Breslin Ridyard Fadero Architects, and constructed by Benchmark Construction. It meets LEED Gold standards and features labs with advanced biometric technology 3-D Motion Capture, Forceplate, and Electromyography Systems. The building broke ground in May 2017.
Jeanne Arnold, a trustee for the college and honorary member of the class of 2008, and Ed Arnold, trustee emeritus and honorary member of the class of 1987, led fundraising with a $10 million gift. In a press release by the college, Ed Arnold explained, “Because of the country’s aging population, which is particularly relevant in the Lebanon Valley, there is a great need for the highly talented health professions graduates LVC will develop.”
Students pursuing a doctor of physical therapy, master of athletic training, or bachelor of exercise science are the primary beneficiaries of the new space. This is one of many gifts they have given to causes in the region, notably to Penn State Hershey, Lebanon Family Health Services, the Lebanon YMCA, and the Boy Scouts. The Arnolds have also orchestrated events such as a recent LVC women’s basketball Pink Game and visit to the Penn State Hershey cancer facilities. Many in Lebanon have also visited the Arnold Sports Center at LVC, which opened in 1988.
New student orientation begins today for the class of 2022 with a convocation this afternoon and runs through the weekend. Classes begin on Monday.
